A Model for Managing Information

In my previous post I mentioned that I found IM interesting because it involves so many areas of specialization.  The following image is an information model that shows where these different areas of specialization contribute to the practice of IM.

The majority of organizations have elements of these model components in place.  Aligning the activities, identifying the dependencies and then managing the elements to achieve an integrated information outcome is where project management experience is valuable.

In future posts I will go into details about each component of the model and how they relate to each other.
